Shiba Inu!!!! It was literally bring your shiba inu to park day. I have never seen so many of them in one area! It was just a booth with one dog but all shiba inu owners gather in that area to hang out. They are fox faced and super cute!!There's a YT video of the smiling shiba inu so check it out!
I first saw cherry blossoms in a flower arrangement show room and was telling my bf I heard there's sakura in the park but we didn't see any and I was happy to just see an arrangement. I love flowers a lot. Probably because my grandma loved them and grew up surrounded by beautiful flowers. I wonder will I become a grandma who tends the garden?
Right before we left the park to buy groceries we saw an actual sakura tree! Even more beautiful because the wind blows and the leaves fall on you like snow. My bf yelled at me for taking one off the tree but I wanted to just stare at it! They were so lovely!!! I was tempted to make pickled sakura I seen on cooking shows...
Went shopping and mommy paid for these but I will add it to my debt. The PJ pants were super cheap! It was on sale and buy one get one free so cost $2.50 each. I wanted new PJs because mines are forming holes and I refused to spend too much on them since I just sleep in it so I thought these were worth it. I got safety shorts for when I wear skirts. $4. I had some safety shorts but they are kinda big and bulky and with the sun coming out, I would want the world not to see my panties. Sigh, I spend so effortlessly
Previous debt: $45
Debt as of today: $55
Went to Mitsuwa, my favorite Japanese supermarket and after watching anime and reading manga, I wanted to try Baumkuchen!!! It is a German origin cake where it requires a lot of work to make. You have a spinning hot rod and you pour batter on the rod. You repeat it to form rings like a tree. Baumkuchen means tree ring in German. Sadly all the German bakeries around here don't make it and thanks to google I learned there's only 3 bakeries in USA that makes it. The closest one is in LA fml. Luckily it's popular in Japan (hence the appearance in anime/manga) and Asian countries or I wouldn't find it in supermarkets. It's sweet cake, reminds me of pound cake. Its definitely a sweet and heavy dessert. You can make this without the spinning rod but in a sheet pan over your stove. I think it's very cute and people apparently give it after attending a wedding because it's a ring, like a wedding ring or eternity? hmmm
This is what it looks like. Isn't it cute?!
I attempted to cook and eat artichokes. They are currently very cheap. I love artichoke dip but never tackled it in vegetable form. What turned me off was 1) took time to eat and 2) found a worm inside fml. It was probably not as yummy because a freaking worm was eating my food for god knows how long. It's actually easy to make but I don't think I'll bother with it anytime soon. The recipe I found told me to add lemon, bay leaf to the water and just boil till the leaves can be pulled off. Oh cut off the thorns of each leaf. Then dip in melted butter. The meat or the veggie is in the back of the leaf and just use your teeth to carve it out.
I remember during my childhood I was reading Babysitter Club and one of the girls loved artichokes and it was her favorite food. Ever since I been curious to eat it but too scared to try since it looks scary! like how do you eat a leaf? I still like it but I rather eat fruits, papaya, mango, strawberries, grapefruit.... sigh
On another note I been cooking in my kitchen to satisfy random cravings again. This is my version of Okonomiyaki. Basically it is batter with veggies and meat. Chinese cooking have egg foo young. This is more bready taste. I put lettuce and chicken and extra egg because I don't love bready taste. The batter (flour milk baking soda and egg) Tasted yummy when crispy and covered in sauce. The lettuce gave it a crisp feel and chicken is yummy too. Not bad for randomly making it but a bit too much for my shrunken stomach. Stupid sickness.
Random craving of egg salad sandwich a week ago. I never loved egg mayo because I think it looks gross but I had it once during work and it was delicious! Ever since I saw an soft boiled version on TV, I wanted to try it so bad! I tried making it today but I accidentally crushed the egg and the yolk splashed out :( I think it's missing mustard. Better luck next time. Some toppings I used were lettuce, tomato or grape tomato, avocado and sandwich meats.
Ah dango. I was having this craving since watching cookingwithdog on YT (my fav! so sad the chef got into an accident) but they didn't turn out so well. The texture wasn't very chewy and more floury taste. I don't know if I didn't knead it enough or what. I guess I failed and probably will hold a grudge like I do for macarons.
